Perhaps no holiday has more iconic imagery than the Day of the Dead, or, Día de Muertos, a Mexican National Holiday! Take part in this complex, religious, and colorful celebration with the Day of the Dead Planter! The planting pot is based on the calaveras, an artist's interpretation of the human skull. This unique bisque piece will bring vibrancy and culture to any home, and it makes a great gift!

The Day of the Dead has a complicated history. It is believed that the holiday began as an Aztec tradition dedicated to the goddess, the Lady of the Dead, but, later on, many of the traditions were adopted by the Church. The holiday takes place over three days: October 31st (All Hallows Eve) is a time to invite the angelitos (spirits of dead children) to come back for a visit. November 1st (All Saints Day) is when the adult spirits will come to visit. Finally, November 2nd (All Souls Day) is when families go to the cemetery to decorate the graves and tombs of their relatives. The three-day fiesta is celebrated with marigolds, flowers, candy, costumes, and more!
